Greenpeace Delusions Front and Center

Remember back in 1983 when I was the starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins and we beat the Miami Dolphins 27-17 in Super Bowl XVII? Do you remember?

No– of course you don’t because I was never the starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins and I did not win the Super Bowl. That’s merely an example of me taking credit for something I did not do. Just like Greenpeace is doing now. Just like I suggested they would do when I blogged about this on July 16. Low and behold on July 25 there’s a Greenpeace blogattempting to take credit for changes in supermarket sustainability programs that they had nothing to do with. And here’s a post on The Daily Green today that congratulates Greenpeace for their efforts.

Let’s review. Shall we?

Ahold USA’s latest seafood sustainability efforts (Giant food, Stop & Shop etc) are NOT a result of Greenpeace’s non-science based, misguided campaign.

How do I know that?

They said so. In IntraFish the senior seafood buyer for Stop & Shop and Giant is quoted as saying, “None of this is in reaction to the Greenpeace retailer rankings. These decisions were made as a result of the advice we received from the New England Aquarium.”

Which part of –“none of this is in reaction to Greenpeace’s retailers rankings”– did the environmental activist community misunderstand?

While you ponder that I’m going to go back to polishing my Super Bowl ring.
