Sea Turtle Rescue
Turtles, one of the oldest living species on this planet are a symbol of wisdom and stability in many cultures. Today all eight species are currently threatened or endangered, after surviving a 100 million years of existence on earth.
The Kemp's ridley (Lepidochelys kempi) is the smallest, most vulnerable and endangered of all sea turtle species in the world. Their entire population nests on the Mexican beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. Ocean Trust is working with Mexican and US scientists to restore these turtles by protecing the Kemp's ridley nests and turtle hatchlings. If we can keep this effort going, the turtles may be removed from the endangered species list in the next five to eight years.
