Summary: Drinking a moderate amount of alcohol is associated with reduced heart disease death in humans, but the reason for this is not fully understood.  This study looks at whether part of the reason drinking alcohol protects heart health is that it increases concentrations of fish-based omega-3s.  Among over 1,600 healthy men and women living in Italy, Belgium, and England; alcohol intake, specifically wine, was associated with higher blood levels of fish-based omega-3s (EPA and DHA in women; EPA in men).
