Korean seafood soup

I had high hopes for celebrity run-ins over the weekend in L.A., but only saw Toni Basil and Ashley Parker Angel. The food, however, lived up to my expectations, and the highlight was definitely lunch in Korea Town. I realized when we got to the restaurant that, other than kimchi, I’ve never eaten Korean food before. I adored it because 1) it was entirely family style so I got to try bunches of different things 2) it featured hot soups and 3) it was spicy. My favorite dish, pictured above, was the seafood soup, which arrived boiling hot.  We were each given a raw egg to crack and cook in the soup.  It was a very engaging meal, and I’ve already been googling for a Korean restaurant here on Oahu.

I am a registered dietitian with the National Fisheries Institute, so fish is my nutrition forte. I earned my BA in Communication from Southwestern University, just outside of Austin, TX. During college, one of my very favorite evening outings was a leisurely trip to the grocery market. My passion for food was undeniable, so I combined both of my interests by earning my MS in Nutrition Communication from Tufts University in Boston, MA.
