Green(peace) and Red for the Holiday’s

Like an early Christmas present Greenpeace has announced it will release its revised retailer rankings on December 9th.  And it says there's "more good news to report this time around." Well of course there is. Greenpeace tried the doom-n-gloom approach with its last retailer ranking list and that went over like a lead balloon, so now it's back with a much sunnier disposition. But let's not be fool. Greenpeace will merely use this re-launch of its failed summer campaign to take credit for things it had no role in.

Confusing Guidance

Here come the guides-- the Blue Ocean Institute, the Environmental Defense Fund and the Monterey Bay Aquarium have all launched sustainable sushi guides that not only conflict with red and green lists from other environmental lobbying groups but offer health advice too. If they're talking about health advice for the oceans perhaps they've got a horse in this race but when it comes to human health I'll stick to doctors and dietitians.

Reuters Is Not Above Reproach

"All of Thomson Reuters will also uphold the Reuters Trust Principles of integrity, independence and freedom from bias. This commitment is more than a source of pride. It is the core of who we are," that's from the Reuters code of ethics. Greenpeace Tries to Profit Off Of Pollock Scare Story

There is no doubt the economic downturn is hurting everyone these days and apparently Greenpeace is no exception. Take a look below at a fundraising email that went out on Friday. Greenpeace is using an erroneous scare story that it concocted to goad supporters into forking over their hard earned money to help stem the tide of a crisis that it invented.

Greenpeace Announces the Sky Is Falling… But Only Over Alaska

The Alaska pollock fishery is not in danger of collapse. The always measured and restrained folks at Greenpeace were at it again today. This time insisting they were right that overfishing has pushed Alaska Pollock to the brink of collapse. Not just the brink but the cusp... and we all know the cusp is much worse than the brink.

More on Greenpeace’s Misguided Seafood Sustainability Report

So, the report is out and folks have had a few days to digest it. From the media and blog coverage there appears to be a genuine sense of… huh?

(Part III) NBC Nightly News Airs Seafood Sustainability Scare-Story

For willingness to enter into a dialog about the issues we have with their story, NBC gets an A. For constructive, factual arguments in their correspondence... well, let's just say they get less than an A.

Turkish Fishermen Face Off Against Greenpeace

Let me start by saying I don't endorse violent confrontations as a means of protest in any way shape or form and neither does NFI... but in playing the victim after a confrontation at sea Greenpeace has once again exposed its unending hypocrisy of message and method. Its message is "peace" but its record is not-so-peaceful. Its methods are confrontational but when confronted it objects.
