Dear Ms. Rich,
I am writing to confirm receipt of my January 27th letter expressing concerns about serious scientific inaccuracies in Dr. Oz's January 26, 2010 segment on fish consumption and mercury.
It's time to add another activist group to the list of organizations that are trying to sensationalize the recent USGS report on sport-caught fish in order to scare the public out of buying seafood: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Wheedling distortion and stale, stifled, outdated scientific thinking like a weapon Michael Bender, the one-man-band who makes up the Mercury Policy Project (MMP), appears to have set his sights on hijacking the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) latest work on mercury and seafood.
The folks at KPIX have yet to respond to my missive from last week. So, I sent them another email just to make sure there isn't a technical problem that I don't know about. A technical snafu would be easier explained than management of a local TV station that happens to be owned and operated by the CBS network ignoring a viewer's concerns about its reporting.
Still waiting.
